little bats for an october birthday

Yuli dropped a message through facebook for this order. "Can you make little bats? or something relating to Batman?" Ok!!

Hopefully 'om' Bryan's happy with the cupcake set :)

It's made up of 10 caramel fleur de sel cupcakes on vanilla base & 10 blue velvet cupcakes with a vanilla cream cheese frosting.
I thought yellow will work well for the letters, as it creates a contrast to the black bats. And also relates back to the old batman logo (one on TV a long time ago with the "KAPOW!!" "BOOM!!!" sound effects). Each of the black bats are also hand cut individually from chocolate fondant.

Here are some more photos of the details:

Happy Birthday to Bryan from i eat sweet...

caramel fleur de sel cupcakes

It's not easy to find fleur de sel** in Sydney. And so when we found it 2 weekends ago, it is definitely a must buy to add to the collection of flavours.

I cannot stop licking the leftover caramel icing!!! The sweetness of the caramel buttercream goes really well with the saltiness of the fleur de sel.

It some how makes the flavour special, a slight twist to the normally sweet offerings.

**Fleur de sel
("Flower of salt" in French) is a hand-harvested sea salt collected by workers who scrape only the top layer of salt before it sinks to the bottom of large salt pans. Traditional French fleur de sel is collected off the coast of Brittany (most notably in the town of Guérande - Fleur de Sel de Guérande, hand harvested from salt marsh water being the most revered), Noirmoutier, and also Camargue, and is slightly grey due to the sandy minerals collected in the process of harvesting the salt from the pans. Fleur de sel is one of most expensive salts in the world and is usually sold in jars as it is slightly damp.

blue velvet cupcakes

A brother to the red velvet cupcakes.

The blue velvet cupcakes are perfect for special occasions which requires a bit of blue touch.
But as i say for anything.. you really don't need any excuse or any occasions for these cuppies. They are good anytime, everytime

Unfortunately no cross-section picture of the blue velvet yet. But I promise to load it up once I have one

individual serve of tiramisu

Tiramisu are traditionally served in a large bowl, which are then scooped out for each person when its time for dessert.

Thesedays, Tiramisu also comes in a 'gateaux' form, making it easy to cut when it's celebration time. Or, as the picture above, in individual cups, for ease of having one (or two)

blueberry cheesecake

Another cheesecake order.
A twist on the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake.

Since the recipient is a guy, I thought blueberry will be more suitable

enjoy!!

mini daschunds

These dogs are so cute in real life, I hope did justice to them in the cookie form :)

miss tang's double order

Betty used to have a tendency to write her order straight into my diary, and not tell me about it. Or... tell me months and months in advance while we were just chatting.. and remind me of her order just a day prior (*_*) Luckily, she's been much better these days (^_^)

For the past 2 weekends, she has had friends birthdays to celebrate, so she ordered some cakes/cupcakes.

Order numero uno's brief was : Chocolate Mint!!!! and i went.. (O_O) uh oh.... never done this one before, so i better start researching.

With Monica's suggestion, and a bit of tweaking, we end up with the Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Cake (yes, three lots of chocolate in the name)
What makes it up?
1. a layered chocolate cake
2. a rich chocolate mascarpone filling
3. a mint chocolate truffle coat

A chocolate overload to finish off the night of celebration.

OK, so now to order number two.

This was meant to be picked up yesterday, but on Wednesday, she called late at night and goes "do you think I can pick the cupcakes up on Friday instead?"

Sure!! and Friday became triple friday :)

Betty wanted cupcakes for Kristy, and she was happy for me to choose the flavours for her. And we decided on 25 mini cupcakes, with Happy Birthday Kristy on it. And here we are, a simpler version of the 'flower garden' as Monica calls it.

mini croquembouche

An ex-collegue is getting married today. We had a small celebration @ her office just before she went on leave.

The office ordered some cakes for the small gathering, and I thought why not do a version of a mini croquembouche!!

I, however, forgot to take a picture of it when it was done. So below is one that I did for my sister's high school graduation.

The difference is, it's not as 'pink' but it has more of a creamy, chocolate undertones, with chocolate fondant flowers adorning the stacked profiteroles. It is also a slightly bigger version of the cake with almost twice the amount of profiteroles.

an internet order

Ngel ordered these cupcakes via msn a couple of nights ago. It's for one of her close friend here in Sydney. (^_^)

"Not too sweet yah On, Jane doesn't like sweet" she kept pounding into my head. So Jane, I hope I got it right :)

It's 28 cupcakes for her 28th birthday, plus a mini cake for her to cut into to make the birthday official.

flavour selection: spanish orange with orange cream cheese, green tea cupcakes with azuki, strawberry swirl, pistachio rose with white chocolate buttercream & a mini chocolate cake with mint dark dark chocolate ganache.

Happy Birthday Jane!!

it's a boy!!!

There seems to be a lot of people having babies these days. Not that I mind... hehehehe... and most of them seems to be boys???

Well... here's another one of the baby shower cupcakes. This time though, they know for sure that it's a boy, thus the blue themed decorations.

flavour selection: oreo cupcakes with chocolate base, nutella cupcakes, spanish orange with orange cream cheese, blueberry with vanilla buttercream (the blue one) & blue velvet with vanilla cream cheese frosting.

hope you enjoy it guys!!!

raspberry white chocolate cheesecake

Nova ordered this raspberry white chocolate cheesecake a couple of week's back for Nerryl's birthday.

The base is made from crushed shortbread (complete with the cream filling!!), and the cake is a double cheesecake type. A thin layer of raspberry jelly topped the cake, along with whole raspberries jutting from the top layer of the cheesecake.

enjoy!!

dark chocolate mudcake

A simple take on the famous mudcake. It's covered with poured dark chocolate ganache, and adorned with chocolate 'gates'.

In this particular order, it's only a mini size, with rows and rows of the sinful dark chocolate cupcakes to complete the set.

pink ribbon cupcakes

Kirsten contacted me, as her work is having a charity bbq to raise money for the breast cancer foundation. The theme is PINK, to go with the pink ribbon used throughout the campaign.

She ordered the strawberry swirl cupcakes to go with the pink theme, and I added the ribbon (sorry, not edible) as an extra. I think they're a nice touch.

The whole house smells really sweet from the amount of strawberries used (^_^)

I was worried I went a little overboard with the pink paper patties, pink frosting, pink sprinkles & pink ribbon. But when all is put together, I'm pleased with how it turned out. The different shades of pink turned out well.

lots of mini cupcakes - Happy Birthday Katy!!! :)

This post is long overdue, the internet @ home has been super slow for the past couple of weeks. There are a few more orders waiting to be posted as well.

So we'll start with this one (^_^)

Katy contacted me via email, she's tasted the cupcakes through Jenita who's ordered cupcakes a while back (thanks Jen!! :) )

Katy said that it's tradition in her company for the birthday person to bring cakes to the office. And since her birthday falls on a Saturday, she ordered a selection of mini cupcakes for her colleague for Friday's morning tea.

Katy's selection from left to right: 1.sinful dark chocolate cupcake w/ whipped chocolate ganache; 2.pistachio rose cupcakes w/ white chocolate ganache; 3.nutella cupcakes; 4. caramel on vanilla; 5.strawberry swirl cupcakes; 6.almond greentea; 7.lemon poppyseed w/ lemon buttercream; 8.chocolate cupcakes w/ mint chocolate ganache

I love looking at the little cupcakes neatly lined up in their box, and come Friday morning, the cuppies & I went to meet Katy in the city :) She is sooooo sweet!!! I do hope they enjoy the cupcakes :)

Now, Katy was also having a birthday dinner with her friends on Saturday, so she also ordered another batch of cupcakes for the occasion.

the minis all boxed up ready to be picked up

Katy ordered a slightly different selection for Saturday and I am very glad she did :) try the different flavours!!! This time, she included the green tea cupcakes, chocolate hi-hat, sinful dark chocolate cupcakes with a sunken raspberry, red velvet & spanish orange cupcakes.

For me, you always need to have something 'to cut' on birthdays, so I bake her a mini red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, simply decorated with pale pink fondant flowers. I hope she likes it :)

Unfortunately I was out when Katy came to pick up her cakes, but she left me a very sweet little message on a card. I was smiling as I read it, it's always good to be able to hear back from your customers, and when they have nice things to say, the smile only becomes wider & wider.

Well, Katy, hope you've had an AMAZING birthday!!! Thank you for letting me be a part of it :)
